When is an ascent an ascent ? ... 3 Australians have claimed ascents of Cerro Torre but didn't climb the ice-mushroom ... the latest Rock&Ice has an arty about 3 yank dudes ... 1 of whom got to within ' 2 moves ' of the summit of Torre Egger ( supossedly the ' hardest' mountain in South America) ... before the ice broke and dude took a 100ft winger ... did the expedition 'fail' ? ... political-correctness now has us raging against GeorgeWya because of his 'we're not leaving until we have TOTAL VICTORY' mentality ... the new term is ' deferred success ' ... no wonder lower-offs are so acceptable ...

Also ... gotta share this brilliance...

I've worked-out what the 'thing' is about (retro)bolted slabs ... ya see, ppl , everyone accepts that long run-outs on slabs are par4dacourse ... yet at the same time many want to make them 'safe' for the masses ... 3 cheers for Simey#2;-) ... cos ya see , ppl think that if ya fall / slide off a slab , therez a chance you will stop soon after cos of friction 'n' that ... and therefore, thus , it would be silly to place bolts all over luuuuvy slabs ... cos if ya fall off an over-hanging route, in contrast , ya not gunna stop until you get to the end of the rope... yeah? ... so placing bolts 'frequently' seems logical ... right ? ...

Thx for the inspiration, Sabu ... I found this ...

'...off the hezy (off da heazy) (adj)
Very good; very cool. Those shoes are off the hezy. [University of Washington, Seattle, WA, 1999] ...'

Seems the baby-boomer academics are struggling to keep up with the funky-crew and are now conducting 'research' into college-slang , so they can differentiate when marking essays ...

'..."It's important to us that there is a relationship with our audience, it's important to us we know who they are," Clayton says. "They are decent, intelligent, good people who understand where we're coming from and what we're trying to do and appreciate it when we get it wrong and when we get it right.

"And I think they get an integrity from the music which is unusual but that's the way we make music. We believe in it and we invest a lot of ourselves in it and that carries through and has a strength people pick up on. In a way, it is our life story when you join together the records, it's almost like a journal of life for us from 16 to 45." ...'
