OK, some may find the following somewhat self-indulgent but I do not mean to be self-indulgent, just asking who else has "left their mark" and what examples can we see on a daily basis? Also a lame attempt to inject something different in to this boring-beyond-belief web site.
EG being : Was wandering through Melbourne's Docklands, Southbank and the CBD last week and saw no end of abseilers dangling off high-rise buildings. It was genuinely bizarrre - yet self-congratulatory as a 'nobody' amongst the crowd at a street cafe looking up ,,, thinking heck, I designed their anchor points, davit arms, lateral (facade) restraints and all those split balustrade staunchions off a set of paper plans several years ago.....
I think from last count I was up to around 100+ buildings and press me I can rattle off the entire design from memory.
So, back to the original question: Who's left a 'mark' on our csociety's built form fabric?

My son wee'd on a tree yesterday in a park in Gisbourne. Right next to the playground inhabited by too many other six year olds...

I built a pergola from scratch, I'm quite proud of it.

I completely neglected my house for 30 years and brought the streets real-estate value to its knees (according to my neighbours). I subsequently sold it to some builders and now there are 13 apartments there. Does that count?

And, you will be please to know, as a result of this sell-out I was able to extend myself to not one but two of your books AndyP (I knew reading it once wouldn’t be enough). And never a few dollars better spent!

To take up your challenge Andy Pandy
I give to you this situation where I did not "make my mark".
If you were to be driving westwards along Davidson Street in Reservoir and look left or right just before crossing over Central Creek, you will see nothing.
I created this nothing.
I started with much somthingness, and through perseverance, daring, but most of all, rat cunning; I gave rise to nothing.
It took me many years, and I fought many great bureaucratic battles, where my knowledge of the writings of Sun Tzu gave me stength when faced with the forces of dumbness.
And I prevailed.
Today, you too can enjoy this nothingness, the fruits of my labour; and although it was some 20 years ago i did this nothing, I think that this is the best nothingness that I have ever created.
I am most proud of this nothing. I commend it to you.

Actually Eduardo, if you cleared some land of derelict buildings or something and allowed it to regenerate that's a mark in my book. (Not 'Punk,,,,'), my real feelings.
Oh, the last person that called me Andy Pandy BTW was in primary school in North Wales. I seem to recall he lost a tooth and cried!!! Ha!
Cheers.
