I bolted some more worthless pox in the South Esk last weekend, named after our Donkey loving friend One Day Hero. See topo and photo on this link. Hey One Day Hero, next time you are in Tassie you should do these donkey dick climbs.

Nice display of maturity TasTrad and turning the other cheek!
ODH was messaged by the mods in relation to that post earlier and this could easily have slipped from everyone's mind, but you have decided to continue with it...

Immortalized in a few climb names now.....climbs name are often a reflection of a current event in the FAs life at the time..one wonders what punters will think the reference is to in 20 years time....since when does naming climbs require maturity?...lets keep some flavour in climbing I say.

The point is, that One Day Donkey Boy has rubbished and dismissed many of my climbs. I think by now I know what a decent climb is and what is worth bolting and what isn't.
As a pioneer of many crags, I am very conscious of the precedent and environmental impact that placing the first bolts has, or trundling rocks and cleaning vegetation, and many times I have drawn the line and said its not worth it. There are half a dozen buttresses at Hillwood left unclimbed because they actually would suck donkey dicks..even though I rapped them and was half tempted in the name of totality of development..but you have to draw the line somewhere.
Now there is a keen new router who moved here recently, who has started filling in the gaps between climbs at Hillwood..bolts 1m either side of existing routes and lots of link-ups..some say this is devaluing the existing climbs. Some faces are so grid bolted now, you cant tell where the original climbs go. But I set the precedent years ago, so good luck to him.
I'm having a great time doing new routes every time I climb..it does not impinge on One Day Donkey Boy so I don't know why he is so infuriated by some of the development here. These donkey dick climbs named after him illustrate the point tongue in cheek..he might say they are worthless pox..and yet I think they are terrific.all of them 1 or 2 stars. of decent height, good rock, well bolted and worth repeating..and the local crew confirm the good quality of these climbs

Some people might say that it isn't a smart thing to provoke others (especially those with some power on a website one contributes to), even if yet still others might reckon the Site requires livening up lately...

I note that ODH has not yet read that PM I sent him.
He has not logged in, so doesn't even know that it's waiting for him in his PM's.
[* - and co-incidentally later deleted, to replace with a fuller explanation of his point, after I logged on and replied to the earlier vesion].

I must admit those route names do have a certain ring to them. I'm sure Damo will be able to come up with something to equal these classics however. When he does I think Chockstone should then offer a prize for whoever is first to tick the complete set of routes (providing they write a trip report or make a film about their experiences for the rest of us to enjoy). Maybe the prize could be some sort of big dildo.

But would even that prize be worth the precious time you would never get back from climbing these over-rated, overbolted, god forsaken, ego driven piles of worthless mank filled choss?

You could've at least been a touch more creative with the route names. I mean you've literally put no thought or effort in. I'm both amused by the level of maturity displayed and disappointed with the resulting missed opportunity to subtly and effectively put the boot in. No doubt one day hero is sitting back laughing his ass off at all if this.

Well it's just taste I guess. But I found that your self appraisals of your first accents was a state wide running joke when I was in Tassie. You have climbed some awesome routes first but not as many as your guide books claim. I was told on several occasions whilst at the crag to take two stars off any Gerry route in the guide. That was locals beta.
I don't know if I have climbed any One Day Donkey boy routes.

Actually, most of your routes which I've done are pretty good.......being active during the 80's
goldrush might have helped your batting average a bit though. Your second sentence there is key, expressing the idea that you have learned restraint and taste. Good, but not everyone has, which is why "I can do whatever I want if it makes me happy" is a bullshit argument.

Sounds like he's devaluing the existing climbs. I'd bring my de-bolting kit down next time, except there won't be a next time for me at Hillwood.

Ah, I'm a late starter in this game. Maybe Gerry would be kind enough to share the story behind the climb 'Gerry Does Dallas'. It's a good one.

Go and do 'The Bridge to Total Freedom' at Bungers. It's better than all of Gerry's routes put together.
