Hey folks, just throwing this out to the climbing community... this seems like a good place to start. After the spate of fatalities last year up in the alps, we have launched a backcountry travel advisory. It's early days, but as the conditions get fatter the hazards do too. So if your headed up to the alpine, its worth checkin out http://www.snowsense.net.au/. We will be running ice alerts which are a total turn off to ski/board people, but like a red rag to a bull for you guys, when issued. Assuming you know your crampon from your crumpet. Get your head around the info there, and watch the space, also climbers aren't immune to avalanche on slopes beyond 25˚.
