Thompson's point break-ins

It looks like the break-ins have started on a regular basis. Yesterday four cars were hit some time between 11:00 and 14:30. It was reported to Police, we waited for two and half hours for them to find out that the finger printing team is not available on Sundays. If it happens in the future I would still recommend reporting it to the police just so they have a record of the number of incidents, not sure I would wait for them to turn up. Plus you need a police incident number for insurance purposes.

Cars facing the cliff were not hit and first car on the right side was not hit all other cars were broken into.

This is likely to to continue since they seem to be getting a reasonable amount of booty everytime, although out of my car they only got $3 in change. They didn't like my sons Rohl Dahl CDs they through them into the bush (he was very happy to get them back). Surely Charlie and the chocolate factory was worth taking.

My advise is don't leave anything that is worth taking in the car. Leave the car doors unlocked and put a sign on the window that the car is open. I would say that is the best bet. Of course that does not stop them getting in the car and taking a dump on your back seat, but I suppose locked doors don't really stop them from doing that either.

This sounds like a good plan. This shits me so much, I'd love to fly up and have a crack.

Straddy crew reunion perhaps?

ya, all it would take is a few of ya who can handle yourselves to commit to a few hours set up out of sight, grab the punks at it & give em a hiding they won't forget. Problem solved. Police are useless, have bigger fish to fry. Busted a guy stealing underwear off my ex-gfs washing line - gave him a hiding & took his driver's licence, left the police out of it. See him around town from time to time - suddenly he's the most well behaved chap of all time... I just laugh at him & stare him down like I own his soul lol

I think Aldi was just selling motion triggered wildlife cameras: could at least identify who...

Lace some bottles of vodka with ricin and leave on the seat. Or put some strips of corrosive substances on the door handles.

I'd chip in if someone wanted to do this. We could also (or just by itself) put up a sign that says cameras in use...

Wait until the word spreads that there are free cameras to collect at Thompson's Point :)

Reminds me of a school that I worked at in Unzud. Sick of having their bins set on fire nearly every night they spent a small fortune (this was a while ago) installing surveillance cameras. Following day they were all gone…but at least no bins had been burned that night

It might be possible to stick some cameras on those nice shiny new power poles. Maybe some mid day drone flights if you can't be bothered walking back to take part in vigilante patrols.

If anybody sees those aldi cameras on sale at their local I want one. For wildlife tracking!
I'm not really interested in beating up the local troublesome youths, when my car gets damaged I get angry at society for failing these kids, not angry at these kids for failing in my society.

Maybe some nice professional looking signs stating that the area is under video surveillance would be enough of a deterrent. The authorities seem to do it all the time. Don't know how effective it is.

I picked one up at Aldi Ashfield a few weeks ago. A test run caught the pesky possum who's been eating my basil on the balcony. Seems to do the job but you only get B&W photos for night time. Much lighter than the ones I've used with NPWS looking for rock wallabies in the Wolgan. I might write a TR/gear review once I've used it a bit if anybody is interested.
