All the people bolting at Point Perp are totally open - their names are recorded next to first ascent details on thecrag.com.

Err, yeah, right - So whilst we are being 'totally open' perhaps you would like to reply to one of my numerous request regarding access to the Safer Cliffs sub-forum???

Hmm, after the 'dastardly deed' has be done, no doubt . . ..
Perhaps the de-bolters are not interested in their 15m of 'fame' . . . .

And the 'bottom-line' is - Don't RingBolt Trad Routes!! Or the RingBolts will be chopped!

Has Neil bolted at the point? Tenuous Segway at best

Well if you had a look at theCrag you would know that he has . . . .
And I presume you mean 'segue' - I had a pretty good grip on the last Segway I was on . . .

There is no bolting war.
There has been bolting incremental creep though, and to the point where it has impacted too much on traditional (and mixed) climbs.
Some bolts have been removed and a line in the sand has been drawn by the removalists, which has been noticed* by the incremental creepers.
What happens next (I guess) depends on common sense rather than emotional reactions to the scene setting that has taken place.

(*From my reading of the various threads that touch on the subject, it would seem that a tentative olive branch may have been held out by at least one bolter).

What happens next may also vary from one location to another, due to having different parties involved in finding the sensible middle ground.

Perhaps not but it seems we are now living in 'occupied' territory with rampant ringbolting occurring at numerous locations! And there is a 'resistance' movement fighting back!

What happens next? More unwarranted ringbolts will be removed!!

My side of the story...

Those in the know are aware that my partner Sue has been diagnosed with cancer. We thought we beat the breast cancer but now it has returned to her spine and liver...

After a reaction to her chemo she was rushed to a major city hospital. After spending a number of days in intensive care with her, she mooted the idea that she would like to try and climb with and like us out at Point Perpendicular. Some call it a bucket list but we don't mention that word...

So i sourced the most remote, rubbish wall tucked away from the rest of the climbing and using the information i had at the time, decided to bolt it. Sure it may cross/follow a climb at times but it really is a dog of a wall...

We climbed it with the help of several others and broke it up into three pitches of about ten metres, by doing it this way it let us offer encouragement the whole way up. Her tears were replaced with laughter at the top and she still talks about her achievement with unabashed bravado today.

Unexpected challenges happen in your life and sometimes you have to make decisions with only the good outweighing the bad, this was my decision based on that and i would do it again.

This lady has no hair, no boobs and NO future yet she smiles every day. A lesson that could be taught to a lot of people on here...

Maybe Mr Phantom chopper could offer me some advice, when i was lost for words when i came home to find Sue curled in the corner, drowned in tears after being told the cancer had returned.
Maybe Mr Phantom chopper can accompany me to the oncologist and sit with me as you hear someone get told "Just enjoy the rest of your life you have left"

This year has shown me what what things in life are really worth fighting for and to be honest this is not it...

I will not debate my reasons on a climbing forum, if those of you who have an issue with this and do not know how to contact me can pm me

Regards Rick
