I could certainly code this change. It wouldn't be difficult to automatically email a randomly generated password to a given address. But all this really does is ensure that the new user provides a valid email address. It doesn't ensure they are who they say they are. Forcing people to provide a valid email might also discourge new users from joining, especially those afraid of SPAM. It also excludes people who have internet access but no email account or no familiarity with it, (yes, such people exist).

I can, however, see the point you're making; the current ease of creating a new Chockstone user might provide opportunity for inpersonation. If users had to provide a valid email address it might make them think twice before impersonating another or creating multiple accounts.

Don't know the answer. I'll code the change if people here want it.
