I set my tools really fking hard when I'm placing screws, too hard probably - they ain't going nowhere! tethers can get horribly twisted up, but they are a decent solution if you want to climb leashless on a long alpine route where you can't afford to drop a tool. You also have to hang on tighter without leashes, with a proper length leash you can relax your grip & get a vague rest.
