All I can say is try them on. I looked at the BD hemmesphere, the petzl elios (foam type), the petzl ecrin-roc (half suspension, half foam).

I found the hemmesphere horribly hot after 2mins on my head in the shop, I can only imagine how bad it would be after a day at a crag.

The petzl meteor I didn't like -due to the adjustment system. If you think about it, the 3 adjustable plugs are the only bits that are holding the helmet on the head, and that's also where the pressure points will be.

I spent half an hour with each one on my head whilst shopping for other stuff, and ended up with the Salewa Vert. This one is half-half one.

The protection factor in the suspension ones is due to the shatter impact - ie. the force that would normally be breaking your head apart is the one that's shattering the helmet on you. There's about 2.5cm clearance on the side between the suspension & the shell of the helmet.
