I had a BD Bod harness which requires a biner to be clipped through the leg loop and waist loop as there is no belay loop in the design.

I noticed that the screwgate belay biners knurled sleeve would often catch on the leg loop when weight came on the rope and the biner rotated to align itself. The leg loop began to show wear very quickly from the knurled sleeve 'sawing' at the leg loop (after only a couple of trips) so I ditched it and got a harness with a belay loop.

Maybe your leg loop is getting similarly trashed by a screwgate biners sleeve. Best to tie the rope direct to the harnes (leg loop and waist loop), not clip the rope to your harness with a screwgate through leg loop and waist loop. And use the belay loop for belaying.
