if you can get your hands on extreme alpinism by mark twight its got some good things to say about rope systems! for NZ in particular tho im a bit of a fan of twins. some 60m 7.5m ropes would be awesome i reckon! something like the beal ice twins (or ice lines)! the single with a tag-line theory is awesome, but the loose rock of NZ scares me away a little. id say twins over half ropes mainly due to weight. u can still use twins as hlaf ropes! in nz nothings really steep enough for you not to 'bounce' down. and realistically you wont break a rope. and if the falling rock will cut 7.5, id think an 8.1 would get cut too!! |
