If I can climb this hard on hexes, Imagine if i had 3 sets of cams like you guys!
Seriously though, I would rather bail off a hex or two for 30 bucks than a cam for 150.
Have you ever seconded a pitch, all set for the next lead only to find that your leader has used all the hand size cams in the anchor?
Sure, hand cracks are easy so you dont need any gear on them. but faced with 20 metres of off hands it can be comforting to know that you can place something that will keep you off the belay before you start shuffling your number 3. I guess that is irrelevant to those with a triple rack.
Or the next pitch is an offwidth, and instead of stacking your hexes the brave leader has tied himself snugly into your only number 4 and 5 cams. What do you do?
Stack them on lead of course. Because you know how!

Of course all these points are secondary to the fact that owning hexes gives me instant rapport with that hot bumbly chick back at camp. She doesnt care if it was on christian crack, the janicepts or barbi di vendetta, they are all arbitrary routes outside her sphere of knowledge. But damn does she know how to place a good hex!!
