Hey All,

After putting it all into action on the weekend at Araps, things have become a lot clearer.

I wanted the "cow's tail" after doing some sport climbing in france and learning to rethread and thinking what a handy little thing it is. So I wanted to use it for that sort of thing but also to attach myself to an anchor when leading trad. It just seemed to me that rope would probably be sturdier than what looks like a flimsy little sling.

Having used the sling, I'm happy so far. But I think the shop attendant's theory that a dynamic rope cow's tail attached to an anchor could end up with me being pulled off the ledge was a bit over-dramatic - how could you get that much dynamism out of a 1 metre length of rope? Plus, if you use the lead rope in the anchor anyway, isn't that also something dynamic in your anchor system? I just don't think it would be that much of an issue.

But, the sling is fine, albeit sometimes too long and then sometimes too short when doubled. This was remedied by someone very kindly leaving a nice new 'booty' sling for me at the bottom of one of the routes....just nicely between the half and full length of my sling purchase of last week....
