There is another antibacterial lotion besides Dettol that may work well for climbers. I haven't tried it for climbing but have used it for other reasons. It is antibacterial and a skin protectant - sort of puts a thin glove layer on your hand. Haristylists use it to prevent dyes from seeping deep into the skin. Industrial workers use it to prevent harmful chemicals from reaching them. Nurses use it to prevent bacterial transfers. It is available from a small company in Portland, Oregon called Biosafe.
