I am considering getting a grigri, mainly to use while bolting routes (to rap down and to ascend in conjunction with an ascender). But I don't like that it is specified only for use on 10 to 11mm ropes. So I was considering the Trango Cinch as an alternative - it is rated down to 9.4mm ropes and is lighter and cheaper. Also claims to have a more dynamic 'catch'. But I have never seen anyone using one. Anyone out there in Chockstone land have first hand experience of using the cinch (or heard anyone elses experience)?
