I have never used the huts in Canada, so not sure on the availability of blankets or stoves. I can put you in touch with some local knowledge based in Calgary if you like.

A -10 down bag did the trick when sleeping in the back of a 4-runner. I'd probably go for a -10 synthetic bag if doing extended ski tours in a tent, or even look at renting a synthetic bag.

There is little difference between day time and night time temperatures when it gets really cold, just wind chill variations based upon wind direction and speed. You probably won't bother climbing ice if the outside temperature drops below -20 deg C, being too brittle and really hard to get a stick or place screws. However the boarding can be great during cold snaps - the snow pack can become facetted, or fine and soft like icing sugar. But don't forget the avi gear.
