So you had a poor excuse for a sales assistant, not much you can do about that other than spend your money in stores where the focus is on the gear. You will end up paying more but the trust in the gear that comes from knowledge before purchase will be remembered well into the future. Try Summit gear in Katoomba or Mountain Equipment in the city. I recently bought a great crag pack (from paddys) through someone I trust. Osprey baby! and it's the sweetest pack ever. Great build quality, comfy harness system, back sizes S / M / L, a great capacity range to choose from. Mines the 32 + 5 and it's perfect for sport and trad,(Rope does go over the top) Whats the + 5 I hear you ask! the best multi pitch a man could ask for. So much love for my pack that it has prompted others to purchase them as well. Good luck with the search.. make sure you get help with the sizing... if they dont look like they know what they are doing ask for someone with experiance to help
