I tried climbing with a pair of Splitter shoes but they were pretty uncomfortable. My friends bought the Gymbo ones and they literally had holes in the material after 2 mild climbing sessions. Overally I don't like Montrail as a brand due to the poor quility however I don't know what the Cruiser is like. For trad they would probably be fine and they are really cheap so it depends if you think they would be worth it.
