After discussing with my partner if either of us had ever dropped a draw while clipping, I jinxed myself and dropped my first draw. Luckily it landed in water, but unluckily this water happened to be salty. I let it soak in water when i got home and dried it out, but am unsure of how safe this piece is now. What are your thoughts on biners and the sling?

Standard response is: give it to Mike Law for 'testing'.

i'm sure someone will soon post it, but there've been documentable tests done by someone in sydney that shows that dropped biners have virtually zero strength reduction.
basically the whole "replace when dropped" is a myth unless you're refering to things dropped from the top of el cap onto a granite surface that show visual deformity.

Yup. As long as the gate action is still fine, it's good.

I guess your question relates more to the salt than the drop? Salt water wont hurt it if you've soaked it well.

Salt eats aluminium for breakfast! Make sure you've really washed it good.

Because normal climbers can't put the sort of forces on gear that my fully formed carcass can..
give a wash

Yeah, was worried more about the salt, the water would have broken the fall. Thanks for the advice
