New rope - sheath wear? |

Has anybody had rope wear from their carabiners on their quickdraws.
We have bought a Mammut galaxy recently and noticed quite a lot of wear.
I noticed that some of the biners on our draws were quite worn, especially some old "Live wires", which had developed a deep notch at the base.
There are no sharp edges.
I was also wondering whether the wire gates might wear the rope if it was weighted across them.
Some old Austri-Alpin biners were not so worn, and Petzl Spirits did not seem to get so much wear either? Is it the different metal, or maybe we just are using the wire gates on all the "dogging draws"? |
