I'm on my 4th pair of Salomon XA Pros over a 10 year period, absolutely brilliant and have been used for everything from approach shoes in winter up Bogong (packed snow) to trail running / multi day hiking in Canadian mud to fast alpine ridge ascents in Scotland to touch footy here on the Sth Coast (good grip). I use them almost exclusively for 99% of the bushwalking / approaches etc I do and they are great. My old Scarpa SLs (Grinta sole) get used for more serious bush bashing but they are bloody heavy and hot, especially in summer...they are overkill for 99% of Ozzie stuff IMHO. Go light and fast and you'llnever go back:-)
