The same lycra that gets worn running pre-dawn and cycling in winter. (And under normal long pants for rock climbing in winter).
A second pair if the skies are clear but cool. Wear boardshorts over the top provide you with a pocket for the photocopied map and stop wear to said lycra when sitting on rocks (and if you have an ego problem about your manhood). I normally dress like this for the heavy approach to Blue Lake from Guthega.

And you would have realised for yourself how to dress this after watching the hard-core skaters at Lake Mountain or Perisher, often in one-piece full-length lycra.

Took me a couple of years to realise that full length zippers on the goretex can be undone from the hip down to cool off. The zippers aren't just about putting on the rain-proofs without taking boots off.
