i've got a new tikka xp2 with Core and have recently put it to good use in the grampians. The Xp2 is alot brighter than my old 4 LED tikka and the light beam is much more focused.

The battery pack - Core - it adds a little thickness to the whole unit, but I didn't notice the weight on my head. Ive been running mine in regulated mode (does not dim over time) and it runs for about 5 hours full blast. There is a second setting at 12.5% which is probably equivilent to the brightness of my old 4 LED tikka after the batteries have been run for about 1/2 hour. You can also adjust the brightness via the software.

The Good:
Rechargeable from my car, laptop. (micro USB i think it is)
Regulated so it doesn't dim (also has 3 colour LED to indicate battery). - can also be run in unregulated mode.

The Bad:
There are two brightness settings. The second can ONLY be set to 12.5% or LESS via software. Ideally i'd like to run about 40% for regular use and have 100% available for emergency night nav.

At the moment I can only have 100% (or less) and 12.5% (or less)

In reality: i'm probably a bit picky.

Also you can by the battery without the charger for a bit less. USB is pretty much everywhere anyway.
