Yep, Aric, name was my bad.

The information was considerably more than that.
That's all you take away from it is because that is all that you were interested in.

If you follow the links and especially if you followed the threads from way when about the initial Alien failures, you get an insight into the whole industry, an insight with quite detailed knowledge of what it really takes to design, manufacture and market a cam or other climbing equipement.

You also get information of what the design constraints and forces involved are for cams and the like. This is good information if you care to really know about how you use your gear.

You also get to see the many myths and folklore that develop explained or debunked.

All good information for anybody wanting to stay alive when using gear.

In answer to your point (b) you could also interpret that as saying that there are still many ill informed, and more importantly, are not open to even accept the facts when presented with them, posers, that keep making a fool of themselves to those that are informed, and thereby continually entertain the rest of us with their blind gobbledygook.
And Aric will continue to debunk misconceptions in the climbing community regarding engineering and especially cams.
And Aric, like most, will defend himself when a personal attack is hurled his way.

There is much more to be gained from that thread, as with all the other alien/cam threads.
But all you are interested in, is can you buy one.
I can't change that.

So now that I have had a little go at you.
How does it feel?
You seem to think that it is fine to have a go at Aric, even in his absence and his complete lack of knowledge of this threads existence.
