In theory salt spray can cause galvanic corrosion between the different types of metal in your gear. It acts as an electrolyte between the different metal types eg steel and aluminium components (and possibly the different alloying elements in the aluminium itself). But then so could your spilt coke. Can't see why you'd need to wash your rope.
