I agree that the 7TM DIN is not as repeatable a standard as alpine in all positions, but it's still pretty bloody good. I've skied 7TM Powers for 5 years, quite aggressively, and have had them release many times in bad tumbles and once when I clipped a tree trunk at speed. The 7TMS can feel a little squirmy underfoot if they begin to pre-release but never actually get there (can be fixed by tightening the DIN a little until it stops), or if you are stomping hard with a big plastic boot (like my T2Xs) because the binding toepiece isn't long enough to provide proper lateral support and you can feel the boot twisting in the binding. Lets not get into the 'how active are your bindings' discussion, but let me just say they aren't the best and they aren't the worst at getting bellows working on plastics.

Then one day I skied on Hammerheads, and I said WOW! A much better binding, but alas, no release. My bro has mounted Hammerheads on a pair of Telebry release plates http://www.telebry.com/ and he says they are amazing.
