Wouldn't surprise me... Du Pont have allegedly known about the toxicity of Teflon for years. Teflon is fine for use as long as you don't heat it too hot - when you're cooking something in the teflon pan, that generally keeps the heat low enough for the teflon not to vaporise. Definitely wouldn't be using it to dry roast anything eg. grass... For camp use, since it's in an outdoor area, any toxic vapours will disperse and not be a dramatic issue (although how much gets into your food?). Du Pont's reasoning for continuing to allow its use in cookware is that the instructions for use of a non-stick pan are NOT to allow it to become too hot - normal use should not heat a pan up to 280C which is the temp at which fumes are released. However, over high heat, a pan can get that hot in about 5 minutes. My personal choice is not to purchase teflon cookware.
