Thanks for all the great suggestions!
Fish Boy, I saw Bridwell's ledge on a SuperTopo thread yesterday -- that would be cool, but really, I am not worthy. ti, thanks for those drawings. I started out using the Black Diamond ledges as a model, and I thought about those machined aluminium corner blocks but I don't have easy or cheap access to the material or facilities. I came up with this design, as a cheap alternative made from angle/channel:
I won't have time to get them sorted though, so we're going with the elbow.
I am thinking about assembly on the wall. All those tubular pieces have a piece of shock cord running through them, so it should be impossible to drop any single piece. In theory, they should all fold up into a neat bundle which drops out (relatively) flat from the suspension point. We'll see how that works when I test it.
It was supposed to be almost a double -- 1m wide, which is about 100 mm narrower than the Fish double: 43 in = 1100 mm -- hence the spreader bar, but for various "reasons" it's only 800mm. So bl@ke, you might be bashing your toes with a hammer after all. At least it'll be cosy.
dave.h, thanks for the link to the buckles, they're exactly what I had in mind. |
