Just to be clear, I'm using semi static (EN1891) which I usually just refer to as "static".
I use static rope for a few reasons: it's cheaper, I won't destroy my leading ropes doing training laps, and it's more convenient. Because I'm doing laps on the same piece of cliff, I make sessions harder by systematically eliminating holds. That usually means figuring out a whole new sequence, which is much easier to do starting back where I came off rather than a metre below. |
