I have used double ropes as doubles on BBB. I reckon if you need to do 50m raps to get in you may as well take doubles and use them for the climb. However I don't necessarily clip alternate ropes when leading but clip depending on the nature of the route just as I would on trad. (e.g. on a rising traverse I may clip the same rope thru two or more bolts). Obviously this isn't taking advantage of the two rope safety factor but it's a judgement I'll make at the time. I'll also sometimes clip both ropes onto the same bolt but using different biners (so both ropes are not running thru the same biner) That also means that there is the potential for both ropes to cut over the same feature, so that has to be taken into account. Of course on the day it's sometimes just a clusterfck with crossed ropes, screwgates, wires over carrots and cacky daks. But that's climbing.
