Body of man found in Blue Mountains
January 24, 2005
A BODY believed to be that of a canyoner swept away by flood waters has been found in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney.
A search resumed early today for the 32-year-old who was separated from his canyoning group at Empress Falls, near Wentworth Falls, on Saturday.
Four men and two women aged in their 20s and 30s were taken out of the canyon on Saturday night.
The missing man is believed to be Matthew Donovan, the brother of a Melbourne police officer who risked his life wrestling a gun from a suspect in Melbourne's CBD 10 days ago.
Victoria police confirmed a relative of Constable James Donovan was missing in the Blue Mountains.
Const Donovan had also been on the canyoning expedition but escaped unhurt.
"We can can confirm that there was an incident in the Blue Mountains involving Constable Donovan and a family member," Victoria police said
