An update.

So it must be 3 years, almost to the day since I had my shoulder re-built. Started climbing about 6 months later, then on and off until January this year. No dislocations, not even a little sub-lux. Works well while doing exercise.

But in-between times it's variable. I tore a muscle off the bone, which was stretched back out and nailed back on. But, it feels tighter than the others and periodically pinches another muscle under it. So, the risk of dislocation is almost zero now, but I get pain from other things. Some days I can't turn my head at all, others laying in bed is a hassle.

So, I reckon there's a Risk/reward paradigm here. Sure, risk of dislocaiton is now zero, problem solved. But the ongoing tightness can be a pain, and it's really hard to fix, because there are other muscles over the top. Something to keep in mind.
