I injured myself as described in the article, basically ripped my growth plate off my bone in my middle finger (2nd joint) when I was 15.

It has happened to at least 5 other people I know of here in Tas. I wasn't campusing but hangboarding, and completely cold I decided it would be a good idea to crank some 2 finger pull ups, coming down on the second I felt a snap in my finger and a lot of sharp pain. It stopped hurting after so I just left it, but every time I tried to climb it hurt, so after 6 months I went to a hand specialist, who was quick to show me an x-ray of a bit of unattached bone floating in my finger! Another 3 months off climbig, and have never been able to crimp as well in my hand since.

So moral of the story is if you are in your teens when your bones are still developing, then warm up, and campus carefully!
