Hand wrist tendons? 28-Feb-2011 At 9:56:52 AM Gavo

Hey all,

I think most people would be aware by my incessant whining that I injured my hand weekend before last while bouldering.

Im reasonably sure it happened when I landed a dyno onto the third and fourth fingers on my right hand and didnt place my feet properly, though in retrospect it might have happened when pulling hard on a mono. I know I should know when it happened but I have a bad memory.

Anyway the pain started more or less throughout the tendons of the said fingers, working down to below the wrist. I could press on the inner and outer parts of the hand to get pain, though it was worse on the inner, as well as the wrist.

The pain has mostly subsided now, though I do have dull pains now and then. I thought it was gone by last week but I felt dull pain friday night so didnt climb again this weekend.

Anyway now there is a clicking sound when I rotate my wrist. I just noticed then that I can actually see where its coming from. The tendons visible protruding from the wrist when clenching a fist; well those sort of shift position quickly co-inciding with the click. It is sometimes associated with another "click" which is the cracking-knuckles sound Ive always had, but I dont believe thats an issue at play.

Im not really sure what to do here. Its not really that sore anymore and Im hopeful that after a week it will be ok to climb easy stuff on. I cant get an appointment at a physio and there are no other options nearby to my knowledge (I live in Hamilton for the moment), as well as not being exactly cashed up to be throwing money at a specialist for the moment, though obviously I will if I have to.

Its not super bad Im just concerned about this new clicking sound and the potential for an ongoing/recurring injury... I dont want to be stopped from climbing things in the future because of it if its avoidable.

Any suggestions welcome.

Cheers
