you HAVE to balance your exercise!

I spent the last few years inadvertently combining skiing & walking to ice climbs in the winter with mtn biking & walking to rock climbs in the summer. Then last summer i went on a few hiking trips & without realising it my knees were the strongest & least-pain then I can ever remember (years before the dislocation). This last winter I didn't climb much & spent 7 months skiing 5 days/week & now my knee is fked again (plus my ski boots really stink...). I put it down to missing the balance that long periods of walking provide.

for my knees...living in cold mountains + my hate of gyms & organised fitness classes, balanced exercise means walking/hiking *at least* as much as I ski & bike. You need to experiment (try everything!) & find the *right* balance of exercise to keep your back pain-free.
