I just wanted to mention that there was an accident at a climbing gym on Wednesday night, when a climber fell some distance - a warning to us that these things can happen anywhere. I won't venture a guess at exactly how it happened, as I did not see the whole thing, but my understanding was that it appeared to be unrelated to equipment failure and the gym staff handled the situation extremely well. I do want to say that my friend Will Power, a nurse, was by the climber's side instantly, and did an awesome job of stabilising him, checking his vitals, etc etc, until the ambulance arrived. Well done Will! I also hope that the climber is doing ok, and makes a full recovery.
