Looks like I am not the only one who had a meniscus damage recently, good to hear all the stories about successful recoveries. I am still scared to start climbing- had most of my meniscus removed end of September.
Still... let me repeat what has been said before- Hugh please go for arthroscopy only if you feel this is absolutely necessary. When surgeons say 'arthroscopy will fix the problem' they usually mean that they'll cut a part of your meniscus off and its not going to regrow. From another hand, the younger you are, the better chance your meniscus has to heal by itself. I know at least 2 people who had torn meniscus, they stopped doing whatever activity they were doing fo a few months and it was fine after. Both were in their early 20's.
If you do go for the operation, make sure you have the best surgeon and the best physio. And yes, start doing quad exercises now. Good luck.
