w.r.t. the 'circus' - its important to remember that sometimes peoples lives are at stake. Having a few extra people there or an ambulance that isn't needed never hurt anyone. Not having them there when they are needed can be very bad. The general public perception of climbing is pretty irrelevant in that sort of context. There are many examples in the past of emergency services not calling for assistance or backup until its too late (eg fire brigades, police searches for people lost). If they have now swung the other way and "over respond" then I think this is a good thing. Thats my 2c, I'll get out of the firing line now. :) PS. Its nice to know the ARG is out there and can respond so quickly.
