I think an injured person who seems to have no idea about climbing stuck up a 100m+ of cliff warrants a rescue call no matter what the idiot says. By the sound of it, he is a danger to everyone else around him, espescially the young children, so let the pros get him off.

At this point I personally would have walked over and in no uncertain terms told him he should either a) hire a guide or; b) go the hell home. It only takes one media-hyped story of a climber who knew nothing, bought all the commercially available gear and went out and died to see it stuffed for the rest of us.
