I had a bad time several years ago in a game of rugby when I fractured my collarbone and then it was
ripped out of the sterno-clavicular joint. It still subluxes every time I rotate my shoulder.

Pain lasted about eight to ten weeks. Severe pain was about four weeks IIRC.

I waited until about six-eight weeks, and then trained it up - military press, dips (my god those hurt)
shoulder press, and exercises. Light weights, building up, and I iced and used Voltaren for probably
longer than was recommended. I started on the dips after about ten weeks.

Yes it hurt, but the pain was never the "you're doing yourself damage" hideous sharp pain - just the
deep achy pain you get from a bit of wounded body that wants some love.

It still hurts at times, my left side is appreciably weaker, and I can't play contact sport, but climbing is
not too bad.
