Hi Estey, I did an ACL and MM nearly 12 months ago, and had it reconditioned 2 months later. I was limping my way up cliffs 7 weeks post op, and slowly regained range and strength over the ensuing months. I still think about it but it has not been holding me back at all for quite a while. The knee does make some off putting noises, mostly because of scar tissue i believe.
With just the meniscus torn, I would reccomend waiting to see how you recover before you let the carpenters do any trimming. it all depends on the individual injury, whether there is a bucket handle tear and the meniscus is jamming up the hinge or it may be a more simple split. plenty of people carry on with damaged meniscus for years, this seems like a balancing act against dealing with surgery and scar tissue and associated fun.
Dont go bouldering.
