Peter asked me also to translate, I gave my best to be as close as possible to the German. There is already a good translation, but now I've written mine too.

Hello,
I’m Peter, the father of Leo Schrass. My wife Andrea is standing besides me. Our other son Tobi showed how to access this forum.
The three of us came to Melbourne to see Leo, and we have brought his ashes home in dignity. On Tuesday the 29th of May, we buried Leo in the cemetery in his home town of Birkweiler. Many people escorted him on his final journey. The majority of them were young people I’ve never seen before; as young and unknown before as those who have posted in this forum.
Their and your sadness, consternation, honest compassion, and solidarity is good for us and gives us strength. We would like to thank you all with all our heart.
I would like here to acknowledge Timo and Tatjana, Leo’s companions when his accident occurred. They held his hand until he passed away in the Alfred hospital. It is an honour to have these brilliant young people as friends now. With thanks’ I would like to send my best regard to them and to you all.
Peter
I assent to Peter’s statement. Leo’s gift to unite people continues after his death, wonderful
Andrea
