Climber killed in Mt Aspiring National Park

BREAKING NEWS: A climber is dead after a climbing party fell more than 500m in Mt Aspiring National Park near Wanaka.
It is understood three climbers fell while climbing from Bonar Glacier towards French Ridge Hut late yesterday, but the alarm was not raised until today when one of the party who miraculously survived was able to raise the alarm.
It is understood they fell or slid up to 500m and one of the men died in the fall.
Another suffered serious injuries including a broken leg and back injuries.
The third was less badly hurt and was able to reach help this afternoon.
He raised the alarm when he make it to French Ridge Hut.
Rescuers and police are releasing few details, but it is understood the injured pair have been flown to Dunedin Hospital.
Further details of the trio are not yet available.
