I took a 2m fall last weekend. It was basically up the top, and seeing it was only 2m high and a flat (albeit rock) landing I got lazy and didn't get the mat out. So the landing was quite hard, I now have two little fractures in my L heel. I can hobble around alright but it'll be a little while before it's 100% again.

As for the earlier comment about the mat, I think a great deal of things in life are pure marketing scams, but not so sure about bouldering mats. I agree that a lot of problems don't need a mat, anything that isn't too high and has a decent (ie grass) landing is fine, but as soon as you throw in some highballs and/or some jagged rocks etc, the mat really makes a difference. Or you could just be a trad boulder - don't fall!
