i work at the summit blacktown in nsw.
i have been doing some work on my gym by putting up more lead climbing routes,there was 4 and now there is 7 walls that you can climb on.
i followed the same system that was used on the other walls.
the hole is drilled through 18mm plywood then the steel stucture which is 100x100 wide, we use the thick (5mm i think) alloy brackets that take up to 7000 kgs.
i only use a high tensile bolt with a 10mm steel plate as extra backup on the back then i put two nuts on, to stop them undoing if they spin.
these bolts are M12 which are big ass bolts, once this is done i and the guys take big falls on every single draw so we know before anyone else that it's safe as.

if you have noticed that your gym bolts the brackets onto t-nuts tell them off for it and i wouldn't be lead climbing there.
thats just stupid
