I have sustained; a broken talus bone and crushed sub-talar joint in a fall about 2 weeks ago. I did not deck out, rather fell 6m on a static belay (grrrrrr dont ask) and slammed the wall with my left foot fractionally before my right, thus the left took all impact.
I have been given a diagnosis and rough recovery time, based on my injury at present.
I do not require an operation.
I have two questions to people with knowledge or others who have had a similar injury or know someone who did.
q.1
Does this sound anormal pattern of recovery;
6 weeks: cast on, crutches, no pressure on foot
6 weeks: no cast, using crutches, light pressure on foot
6 weeks: no cast, using crutches, heavy pressure on foot
q.2
Once i start climbing again what in people's opinions are the best way to ease back in. I was climbing 25/26 sport routes, i plan to fingerboard twice a week once my cast is removed to keep finger strength. I have also decide it may be best to not boulder outdoors for at least 12 months, due to the constant dropping onto my foot.
What are people's opinion's on q1 & q2 please ? |
