The medial collateral ligament? The knee is such a crap design at the end of the day anyway... these collateral ligaments actual become slightly looser as you flex your knee. (Well they do in the canine, I am almost certain it's the same in humans). The articulating surfaces of femur and tibia are fairly flat as far as joint surfaces go, add this crap design concept to attaching 'heavy' boots and skiis to a long limb and it's all a bit dodge with stuff a bit too easy to slide around (I have also a totally unrelated knee injury from slamming myself into a pointy rock hence my complaining so I'll stop now :o) ).

Healing time is fairly individualistic, sounds like you got a positive estimate. My friend also did her medial while skiing in canada, typical ski/rollerblade injury but she wasn't perfect for months. (Cos ligaments to top it off have veerrrrryyy slowwww nutrient diffusion no blood vessels :o) )
