Don't know about the biceps being uninvolved in climbing! Bit of a big call! Where'd did I get all that biceps hypertrophy from then... I'm not doing weights, and my day job involves pushing a keyboard.
The reality is that climbing is not just straight chinups with your hands forwards, and the biceps come considerably into play, especially on steep rock where the hand positions can be quite varied, and on steep cracks as well.
All very nice to put pretty smelling ointments on to your skin, or eat tablets with long scientific or scientific-sounding names, but in reality you might as well do rain dances, or make an offering to the gods! What's really going to work is changing your training techniques and frequency, warming up effectively, and a bit of the magic "T-factor" (time), plus maybe a bit of physical therapy from your osteopath or physio. I'm sure Julian will tell you the same thing ....
Personally, I think most "magic" ointments are of more use for rubbing into the groin than slapping onto your injuries! |
