Turn up the quality to HD. I really liked the detail of the hand on the holds in this one.

The video didn't exactly pump my 'nads. Chris Sharma might be able to climb hard, but he never says anything particularly interesting about climbing. As for the climb, it might be hard but didn't excite me either. Perhaps I should have watched it in HD as recommended.

What sort of interesting things would you like to hear Simey?

Something more interesting than his final lines which were, 'It was something I wanted to do for the fun of it, for the pure enjoyment of climbing'.
I reckon you would hear more engaging commentary from kids attending a climbing gym birthday party.

It's hard to even have a concept of how hard that route is. Some of those holds and moves look impossible!

I didn't actually listen to a word he said. I was too busy giggling at the game of guess when he will squeal next. It's pretty easy to get a 100% success rate.

So the days of keeping three points of contact with the rock are over now are they?

Not at all BA. This Shama bloke is just weak he needs to ignore this rule and throw for everthing... ;-)

Isn't it the same for all sportspeople? Very few have anything interesting to say - they "speak" with their actions...
You wanna see some banal awkward "climbing talk" - Google Chris Sharma Lynn hill interview...
"So, like, you like climbing yeah?"
"Yeah, it's pretty cool..."

I know what you mean, a friend of mine pointed out how sharma always states the obvious. Now that's the only thing I notice whenever I listen to him!

Why do we always expect those at the top of their sport to offer insights?

For some reason, people equate climbing ability with all sorts of ability....

And why do we expect there to be amazingly profound things still unsaid about rockclimbing?

Fair call.
Probably the reason I'd never read another climbing book again.

Nah, there are plenty of good climbing books. None of them, however, will ever be written by Chris Sharma.
