Hi there!
I'm a newbie and want to start some serious rock climbing. Looking for an intermediate to advance climber who can show me the ropes...literally! If there's a price then please name it, otherwise I'd even be happy to tag along on a trip, split the costs and just pick up any tips you can give.
I'm definitely a beginner, my previous rock climbing experience is limited to a day at the You Yangs - one of those red balloon gift packages and was only a brief crash course.
I'm late 20s, female and from Melb's west. Please message me if anyone is interested in getting together and rockin' on!
Cheers

Welcome, best bet to learn is head to the local gyms and start climbing regularly and
meeting people. That way you can learn how to climb in a safe environment and
hopefully start meeting people that can teach you.
Another really good way is to join a club such as VCC (Victorian climbing club) and tag
along on their many beginner trips. This way you get to experience climbing outdoors
with plenty of instruction and fun!
hope that helps
cheers

Thanks Sabu, I just had a quick look at the VCC and overwhelmed with the amount of info on there. Struggling to find something for newbies with little or no experience.
It's also difficult to start climbing regularly without a partner... hmmm... what to do?
Do you know of any courses to take etc?
Anyone on here with alot of patience and looking for a partner to climb with?

Here's the place to look: http://www.vicclimb.org.au/Site/index.php?location=events and http://www.vicclimb.org.au/Site/index.php?location=club
Regarding a partner; here is a good place to start and also rocking up at the gym and
asking around is another good way. Stick with courses from the clubs as they tend to
be a lot cheaper, commercial courses can be quite costly.

You're female.
They'll come to you if you look like you need a hand.

Don't they, (i'm assuming staff) come to the guys who look like they need a hand?
I'm gonna definitely need some assistance when i'm tryin to 'work it'.

You're more likely to get a hand from the regular climbers cause you're a chick.
Although staff at the gyms are nice, quite often they're not actually climbers and can't give you any tips whatsoever.
Best thing to do is introduce yourself to regular climbers in the gym- They'll help you from there.
... Worked for me.

Can't say I've ever climbed in my gold leggings, maybe I should try it in the UK and make some friends. I wonder if my peacck feathers will get passed customs.

These are the ropes:
I can also tell you something about them. There are two of them. Only one of them is really suitable for climbing
